The US version of Spotify's "Basic" streaming plan will be available starting this Friday, the firm said. All of the features of a Premium plan are included in the new $10.99 monthly plan, however the monthly audiobook listening time is absent.

A few weeks prior to the introduction of the new streaming plan, Spotify raised the cost of its Premium plan from $10.99 to $11.99. At the time, Bloomberg claimed that the higher charges would assist the streaming service in paying for audiobooks.

Users can return to the $10.99 price point with the new Basic plan, but they will only be able to access podcasts and music. For customers who don't utilize the monthly 15 hours of audiobook listening, the new plan might be a suitable choice.
